Initial Arrangements

Once a couple has decided that they would like to have their wedding liturgy celebrated at Sacred heart Church, a priest of Sacred Heart Parish needs to be contacted at least six (6) months prior to the planned wedding date. In selecting a priest or deacon, a couple is free to choose from any priest or deacon assigned to Sacred Heart Church. If the couple has a friend or relative who is a priest or deacon, he will also be most welcome to preside at the wedding liturgy.

As a rule, Sacred Heart will be the parish of either the bride or the groom. With the permission of the home parishes of the bride and/or the groom, weddings where neither the bride nor the groom are currently members of Sacred Hart Parish may take place here.

If the bride and groom are of different faith traditions, the minister of the non-Catholic party is most welcome to participate in the wedding ceremony at Sacred Heart.

Special permission for a Catholic party to be married in the church of a non-Catholic Christian, or in a special location for a party of the Jewish faith, may be obtained from the Bishop's office. The Catholic priest may participate in the wedding ceremony at the request of the bride and groom.
