Family-Home Study Program

"The family is, so to speak, the domestic church. In it parents should, by their word and example,
be the first preachers of the faith to their children."  Lumen Gentium, 2nd Vatican Council

Our FHS program is a religious education option for families who are willing to take responsibility for teaching the religion lessons at home during the year... and perhaps find it difficult to bring their children to one of the weekly classes. Grade-appropriate materials are distributed in September and throughout the year, and other resources are available.

In order to foster a connection between the Religious Education office and families, children and parents are expected to attend special monthly sessions (usually held on the 2nd Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m.). These sessions consist of a group prayer followed by a parent/child presentation and activity. They are a way for us at Sacred Heart Parish to connect with the FHS families as we come together to study and learn about our faith.

This year we will again have an input and activity session that parents and children will do together with Sister Cecilia. The second Wednesday (most months) will provide some time for parents and children to pray and celebrate events together. This will be a good opportunity for each of us to grow in our faith journeying together. Monthly parent/child sessions are held in the Mother Seton Room at 7:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you and your children on the dates below and partnering with you in your child's faith journey!
