The Respect Life Committee is Sacred Heart Parish's pro-life, pro-family organization committed to the sanctity of all human life from natural conception to natural death by promoting the teaching of the Catholic Church through education, outreach and prayer.
The Respect Life Committee invites you to join with us in praying for the sanctity of all human life. We invite you to our meetings and events. We ask for your input and ideas to help us become a large and active group promoting a culture of life in our community. We ask you to recommend our information to anyone experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
The Respect Life Committee invites you to pray and sing at the Holy Hour for Life during Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, April 7 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Little Church. We will sing songs of praise, listen to children read prayers/scripture verses, and pray in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Psalm 139:13: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." We pray all will respect the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. The Respect Life Committee invites people of all ages to join us for songs, prayers, fellowship, and refreshments at the Lenten Prayerful Sing Along on Friday, April 21 from 7:15 - 9:15 p.m. in the Mother Seton Room. Our theme is "Thanking Christ for the Eucharist". We invite you to bring a donation for the pro-life pregnancy center (e.g. diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, new and gently used baby clothing [size infant - 3T], etc.). Child care is provided. The Respect Life Committee and Faith in Action invite you to share the love of Christ by singing songs with the residents of Future Care Cherrywood Nursing Home (located on 12020 Reisterstown Road) on Monday, April 24 from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the lobby at 6:25 p.m. We will be distributing Easter cards to the residents. The Respect Life Committee invites you to bring in a donation for the Center for Pregnancy Concerns, a pro-life pregnancy center. Please drop off donations (e.g. baby shampoo, diapers, wipes, formula, new and gently used baby clothes [size infant - 3T]) in the bins located in the main lobby of the church during the weekends of April 29/30 and May 6/7. We give thanks to God for the sacred gift of life and pray all will respect life from conception to natural death. The Respect Life Committee encourages you to attend the Tender Care Pregnancy Center Fundraising Banquet on Tuesday, May 16, at the Martin's of Westminster (140 Village Shopping Center in Westminster). The key note speaker is Melissa Ohden, a survivor of a failed saline infusion abortion. She has been featured on television and radio programs including: EWTN's Life on the Rock and Defending Life, Fox News, Focus on the Family, and more. The sit down dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. The event is being underwritten, so there is no charge to attend, however this banquet is one of the most important fundraisers of the year for Tender Care Pregnancy Center, so a financial appeal will be made. Mary Ann Sorra, M.D., OB/GYN, stopped prescribing artificial contraception and adopted the use of natural family planning in her medical practice in 2009. The Committee meets monthly during the school year on the third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in room 112.
Weekly, there is a Prayer Vigil for Life on Saturday mornings in Owings Mills at the corner of Dolfield and Music Fair Road from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. One does not have to attend the monthly meetings in order to help. Volunteers for our annual events are always needed!
