Sacred Heart Parish Respect Life Committee Mission Statement

The Respect Life Committee is Sacred Heart Parish's pro-life, pro-family organization committed to the sanctity of all human life from natural conception to natural death by promoting the teaching of the Catholic Church through education, outreach and prayer.

 

The Respect Life Committee invites you to join with us in praying for the sanctity of all human life. We invite you to our meetings and events. We ask for your input and ideas to help us become a large and active group promoting a culture of life in our community. We ask you to recommend our information to anyone experiencing a crisis pregnancy.

 

 

Events and Announcements

Holy Hour for Life

The Respect Life Committee invites you to pray and sing at the Holy Hour for Life during Eucharistic Adoration on Friday, January 3 from 4:00 — 5:00 p.m. in the Little Church. All are welcome. Please stop by for 10 to 15 minutes or for the whole hour as we sing songs of praise (including some Advent songs), listen to children read prayers / scripture verses, and pray in the presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. We pray all will respect the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. Sacred Heart Respect Life Committee Needs You

The Sacred Heart Respect Life Committee invites you to join us for a Rosary for Life and planning meeting on Thursday, January 16 in Room 112. We will pray a Rosary for Life from 6:30 — 7:00 p.m., and the planning meeting will take place from 7:00 — 8:00 p.m. We welcome you to join us in planning ways we can spread awareness for respect for the sacred gift of life from conception to natural death. Life is Beautiful Mass and Reception

Join us for this year's Life is Beautiful Mass and Reception at St. Joseph Church in Fullerton (8420 Belair Road in Baltimore) on Sunday, January 19 from 8:30 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. Our Mass celebrant and homilist is the Most Reverend William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore. Our guest speakers and Life is Beautiful Award recipients are the Tennants, a brother and sister comedy duo who promote love of life across the abilities. Our Culture of Life award recipient this year is Deacon William "Bill" Fleming, Director of Camp Glow ("God Loves Our World") and former director of the Office of Special Needs and Deaf Ministry for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The Archbishop will give his blessing at the end of the Mass for pilgrims going to the March for Life. Please register by clicking here. Sharing Christ's Love with the Future Care Residents

The Respect Life Committee and Faith in Action invite you to share the love of Christ by singing songs with the residents of Future Care Cherrywood Nursing Home (located on 12020 Reisterstown Road) on Monday, January 20 from 6:30 — 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the lobby at 6:25 p.m. We will be distributing pictures to the residents. As we thank God for the sacred gift of life, we will also sing "Happy Birthday" to each resident who has a birthday in January. Join Us at the Annual March for Life

The 47th Annual March for Life takes place on Friday, January 24. This year's theme is "Life Empowers — Pro Life is Pro Woman". Sacred Heart Church is once again sponsoring a bus to the March. It will leave after we attend the 9:00 a.m. Mass that morning. Reservations are necessary for the bus, and seats fill up fast. Pro-Life OB/GYN

Mary Ann Sorra, M.D., OB/GYN, stopped prescribing artificial contraception and adopted the use of natural family planning in her medical practice in 2009. She believes she became a better doctor after making that transition — better able to care for the whole human person, body and soul. She trained at the Pope Paul VI Institute and became a Medical Consultant for NaPro technology in 2011. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Association of Pro-life Ob/Gyns. Rachel's Vineyard and Project Rachel

Rachel's Vineyard (sometimes known as "Project Rachel") is a ministry offering post-abortion counseling, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Maternity Counseling / Adoption Services

These services are offered by Catholic Charities in Baltimore. They offer the support needed to make the best decision for you and your baby. Call 410-659-4050 or 1-800-CARE-002.

 

Committee Meetings

The Committee meets monthly during the school year on the third Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in room 112.

 

Weekly, there is a Prayer Vigil for Life on Saturday mornings in Owings Mills at the corner of Dolfield and Music Fair Road from 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. One does not have to attend the monthly meetings in order to help. Volunteers for our annual events are always needed!
